Shots which register from outside the 'D' are worth three points
Dunkin' doughnuts! They don't give up, do they? To give us a break from In The Zone, Konami have stuck the word 'Pro' on this tweaked-slightly sequel...

Bounce, bounce, bounce. Squeak, squeak. Bounce.... GNNNNnnnnn...
Okay, so it's hardly the most eagerly awaited PlayStation game of the year. It is basketball, after all. But hey, things are pretty quiet in the summer months - software publishers still seem to think that people only buy games at Christmas. Ridiculous. Anyway, just in case you were wondering, NBA Pro '99 is the sequel to NBA In The Zone '98. The latter, of course, was the sequel to NBA In The Zone. Phew.
Muchas tweakery?
Heck, it's not easy to tell, frankly. Visually, Pro doesn't seem to look significantly different from its predecessors. In fact, it doesn't even look as good as Sony's Total NBA '96. Lovely polished floors, that had. And it came in a nice orange, nobbly, rubber box.
Mmmmm. Orange nobbly rubber box...
Calm down.
So what do you get for your hard-earned?
Ever played a PlayStation basketball game? It's pretty much standard fare. All the top teams from the NBA are included as are the player 'rosters' (they're squads, in case you were wondering). Naturally, this being an American sport, there's a wheelbarrow of statistics, too. The best players are surely the wonderfully named Simpkins and LaRue from Chicago.
Motion-captured players?
Check.
Fancy dunking?
Check.
Let's have a bit of enthusiasm, eh?
Sorry, it's just that Konami are following the example set by EA Sports. Get yourself a brand, knock out a new version every year. It's just so cynical.
