LMA Manager Interview page 4 of 4

Any plans for an LMA Manager 2?
Of course we're considering this option, but no decision has yet been made. We're too busy working on the foreign versions. Spanish and Italian will be first, with all their own leagues, clubs and players.

How much fun was Alan Hansen? How did you get him on-board?
Alan has been a lot of fun to work with. He's very professional and has helped us with the advertising and PR, as well as the in-game comments. When we designed the highlight section of LMA Manager, I wanted a commentator who was already on national TV, giving opinions on edited highlights of football matches. This narrowed it down to a couple of people, with Alan Hansen top of the list. I found out Alan was about to come to the end of his existing contract so I got our legal boys to do a deal as soon as he became free. As Alan would say, "What a finish. It left everyone standing. You cannot fault Codemasters, but you have to ask - where was the competition?"

You spent £500,000 on advertising. In your eyes, is that a large amount?
I don't think so. Computer games today are mass-market entertainment. Game development and publishing is one of Britain's biggest export industries. The world computer games market makes more money than the world's movie industries. Draw your own conclusions, but I think based on that we probably could have justified spending more! At the end of the day, if you have a game as good as LMA Manager, it probably doesn't need a huge marketing campaign...
