A mouth-watering encounter. Anything else we should know about?
You can, if you wish, watch a variety of real-life cheerleaders come on at half time to entertain the crowd.
Do they get their pom-poms out?
Certainly. But that's all.
Aaahh... What about the gameplay itself? Competent, you said.
Competent but not spectacular. The graphics as a whole are fairly smart, and the stadia, crowds and commentary provide plenty of big match atmosphere. As for the play itself, you have all the basic moves you'd expect from a game of basketball, but NBA Live is a far from 'trixy' affair like NBA Jam. For all that, play is reasonably swift and an accurate simulation. The ball can easily be moved down the court, scoring isn't too difficult, the physical blocking aspect of the game feels realistic and the rumble involved in collisions adds spice to a match. There are also, of course, all the standard replays to be accessed.
Sounds like it's alright then.
You have to conclude that NBA Live 2000 plays a decent game of basketball, but it doesn't look as polished as Activision's forthcoming NBA Basketball 2000 or as spectacular as Acclaim's NBA Jam.
Do say:
Oh no... not another NBA game.
Don't say:
At least the cheerleaders get their tits out.
A nice physical feel to the game
Options galore
Big match atmosphere
Reasonably swift
Another NBA title
