So is it just deathmatches then?
No, there are three game modes. Your traditional deathmatch is represented in the Point Blast game, where you're attempting to rack up the points in a 10-minute competition. Here, though, you can also score points for hitting certain targets, as well as other players. In the Speed Blast game the players compete against each other to hit seven flags in order first. Of course, there are baddies to avoid and obstacles to overcome so it's not as simple as it sounds. Finally there's Ball Blast, where everyone is not only trying to hit each other but to fire a set number of balls into designated targets. It's maddeningly frantic!

Are you playing against Bots in single-player mode?
You certainly are, and though they're fairly intelligent, we've seen recent advances in AI that make 'em seem a bit thick.

Surely the variety of weapons is a bit limited?
Ah ha! No. Again, the designers have been a bit smart here and have come up with all kinds of weird and wonderful Nerf weapons. Our fave's the Might Mo, which fires bouncing balls. It's a right laugh.

What does the game look like though?
It actually looks great because it's using the Unreal engine.

Do say...
A refreshing spin on the FPS genre.

Don't say...
Why can't I blow his head off?

  • Wonderfully designed arenas
  • A great range of non-offensive weapons
  • More addictive than you might imagine
  • Three game modes give it increased longevity
  • There's no blood 'n' guts
