Like what?
You control one of the four Genohunters directly at any one time, but can give orders to the others. It's surprisingly subtle and introduces tactics to the shoot 'em up equation. You might want to go chasing around gung-ho but that's not always going to be the best way to deal with a situation. Why not go charging into a bunch of aliens (who all look gloriously organic) and play tag with them? When you've got them all worked up enough to come after you, lead them neatly into the ambush you've set up for them.
Okay, so there's tactics and shooting. What else?
There's the odd puzzle thrown in too. Computer Artworks have put a lot of effort into what they call Artificial Life Technology, whereby all the creatures and environments behave in a natural way, and they've introduced Behavioural Cloning whereby the Genohunters learn your playing style as the game progresses and they adapt to it.
You've enjoyed playing it then?
We have. We haven't had as long as we'd like, but our first impressions are that it's a kind of mix between Hired Guns and MDK. The action/tactics/mutating blend seems to work extremely well and we're sure Evolva's going to raise the eyebrows of any action fan looking for something different. Oh, and here's something to think about - there are more than a billion variations you can come up with for your Genohunters.

How am I supposed to fight with no arms and legs?
Evolve your Genohunters as you progress through the game
Shoot 'em up action with plenty of tactical planning
The organic look gives it a 'real world' feel
Fast and constantly changing gameplay
Gene manipulating could prove to be more hollow than hoped for
