FG: Describe Dreamcast in five words.
PH: It is made by Sega.
FG: What's the most overrated game ever?
PH: Myst and also the entire full-motion video, interactive movie genre that wasted our time and money in the early '90s. In my opinion it set the industry back years and we've only just recovered with the current crop of realtime 3D games.
FG: What's the most underrated game ever?
PH: Wizball - I agree with John Hare. It got hyped to death in Zzap! 64 (I remember when all this was fields...) and just didn't sell like it deserved to. Shame.
FG: Have you ever lied to an arcade attendant to get a free credit?
PH: No, never. Pool tables, now that's a different matter altogether.
FG: Who in the games industry do you most admire?
PH: The people out there who actually go out and spend hard-earned money to BUY games. And anyone who writes games for PlayStation… and journalists, of course. Wonderful people, those editors and reviewers.
FG: What was the first videogame you ever played?
PH: I can't remember the first, but the ones I remember most are Space Invaders and its variants. Then typing basic into a ZX80 for an hour or so just to watch a few blobs move about the screen. It was a life-changing experience to say the least, (although not necessarily for the better!)
FG: Have you ever cancelled a date to play a videogame?
PH: Good grief, no!
FG: What videogame websites do you have bookmarked?
PH: FGOL, Next Generation Online, PlayStation.com
FG: Did you ever own a Jaguar?
PH: No, but I did have a TVR for a while until a tree ran out into the middle of the road as I was driving along.
FG: What game are you most looking forward to playing?
PH: Gran Turismo 2 is up there on the list. FFVIII, Messiah (just to see if it's worth all the hype… sorry, DP) and whatever Mr Kojima comes up with next...
FG: What's the first game you look for in an arcade?
PH: Any of the big production driving games. It's a shame that motion-based cabinets are so rare these days. Anyone else remember the fun to be had on Sega's Powerdrift?
FG: Do you ever play videogames in the nude?
PH: No, and I hope no-one else does either. What would the neighbours think?
