Silicon Valley is an area on the west coast of the United States which is just, kinda like, out there man. Actually, it’s an area surrounding San Jose in which some of the world’s most hi-tech companies are based.

Think of Apple Computers (they know how to spell ‘user friendly’), Atari, the Palo Alto Research Centre (Xerox) and NASA’s Ames Research Centre. There are many more, too. Scotland has attracted a lot of blue chip companies to a certain area, too, and this has become known as Silicon Glen. Which is nice.
