FG: Were games better in the "good old days"?
GN: Nope. There were a lot of really sucko games in the good old days. We just remember the ones that weren't.
FG: Describe Dreamcast in five words.
GN: How about a Dreamcast Haiku instead?
"Dreamcast ships with hopes
Of rebuilding Sega's pride.
Ooops. PlayStation 2."
Actually I like the Dreamcast a lot...
FG: What's the most overrated game ever?
GN: Uh. Uh. Erm. Uh.
FG: What's the most underrated game ever?
GN: Ultima Underworld.
FG: Have you ever lied to an arcade attendant to get a free credit?
GN: Nope. I have disgracefully abased myself to try and get a free business class upgrade on an international flight out of Korea, though.
FG: Who in the games industry do you most admire?
GN: Shigeru Miyamoto, Warren Spector, John Carmack, Sid Meier.
FG: What was the first videogame you ever played?
GN: I played Star Trek using punch cards on a Burroughs mainframe back in the mid-'70s. I was living in the Sacramento valley in California, and it was either that or cow-tipping.
FG: Have you ever cancelled a date to play a videogame?
GN: I refuse to answer on the grounds that my wife may be reading this interview.
FG: What videogame websites do you have bookmarked?
GN: I actually have several hundred bookmarked, but three that people should really check out are www.evilavatar.com, www.gaminginsider.com, and www.oldmanmurray.com
FG: Did you ever own a Jaguar?
GN: No, but I did own a Lotus until it got mad at me and burst into flames.
FG: What game are you most looking forward to playing?
GN: Deus Ex, Warren Spector's next game. I got to see it at ECTS last year, and have been calling Warren periodically to hear how it is progressing.
FG: What's the first game you look for in an arcade?
GN: I am currently pissed off at arcades right now. I go in with a fiver clutched in my sweaty palms, walk around, see these stupid rail shooters, and leave all wilted and sad with said bill intact.
FG: Do you ever play videogames in the nude?
GN: No, but I do the company books in the nude, much to the annoyance of our accountant.
