Re-Volt
N64 Release: September '99 From: Acclaim

The graphics are superb, thanks to the Expansion Pak

The Nicole imposter in the latest car adverts would like us to believe that size matters. But what does she know? And where's Papa?
Andy Ashwin

More to the point, whatever happened to Nicole?
No idea. She was rather lovely. Now we'll have to use our hands to play games instead.

Like Re-Volt perhaps?
You could do a lot worse. Acclaim's latest is shaping up to be rather a fine little racer. Just imagine belting around in remote-controlled cars in a variety of larger-than-life locations.

That might be nice. Tell me about the locations.
There are 14 tracks set in seven different environments, including a supermarket, a museum and a neighbourhood. Remember that you'll be controlling a remote-controlled car, so everyday objects will be huge in comparison and will pose many hazards.

Like?
When racing around the neighbourhood you'll be presented with many problems - cars reversing out of driveways springs to mind. And how about stray dogs? What if a dirty mutt got a call of nature?

Yuck! You might drive through a gargantuan pile of dog poo!
Probably not - remember this has got to get past Nintendo.

Oh yeah. On to the cars...
Thanks. Re-Volt has a staggering 28 cars to choose from, although you'll start with a choice of eight (you'll need to unlock the others by doing well). The first eight will be your standard electric models; nippy little buggers like the one that your rich mate would bring to school. Collect enough bonus stars and you may find yourself in control of the fancy petrol models. Vrrroooom!
