Sex, Lies & Videogames page 2 of 2
Steven Kent (LA Times, Wall Street Journal)

FG: What's the most under-rated game ever?
I do not know! A number of forgotten gems, such as Herzog Zwie for Genesis [Mega Drive] and the arcade game Marine Date comes to mind, but they were simply unnoticed, not under-rated.

FG: Have you ever lied to an arcade attendant to get a free credit?
SK: Nope, I just stand in front of the game blowing all of my hard-earned cash like a total moron.

FG: Who in the games industry do you most admire?
SK: Five names come to mind: Peter Molyneux, Mark Turmell, Shigeru Miyamoto, Yuji Naka, and Ed Logg. All of these guys do as they please and succeed.

FG: What was the first videogame you ever played?
SK: Pong. I went to a bowling alley during a physical education class. My teacher and I battled it out as the rest of the class bowled.

FG: Have you ever cancelled a date to play a videogame?
SK: When I was in school a couple of amazingly gorgeous girls tried to strike up a conversation while I was playing Gunfight, and I was too engrossed to care. Yes, I am ashamed of this.

FG: What videogame websites do you have bookmarked?
SK: Show me a worthwhile website with accurate information and I will bookmark it.

FG: Did you ever own a Jaguar?
SK: Yes, and I still own Tevor McFur and Cybermorph and all of those other classics. You know what? Jaguar has a lot more gameplay than the Pong or the Odyssey.

FG: What game are you most looking forward to playing?
SK: I'm waiting for the next Zelda and the suspense is killing me. With any luck it should be out by 2006, so just 21,000 more shopping days to go!

FG: What's the first game you look for in an arcade?
SK: I look for that amazing Sonic fighting game. If they have it, I know I am either in a huge arcade that has everything or a crappy arcade in which the managers have no taste.

FG: Do you ever play videogames in the nude?
SK: You trying to give your readers nightmares? No, I only play videogames in a Tuxedo or suit and tie. How about you?
