Anything else of note?
God lives in the details, and the level of detail here is tremendous. Attention has been lavished on not only the design but the gorgeous graphics and the tremendous sound. An example? You're running past some electricity pylons on the first mission and the things hum. It's also foggy on the first mission so you can't see very far - we're not talking N64-style fogging of the background here either - it's a well-worked game feature.
Blimey, you do sound excited!
I am! Hidden and Dangerous has consigned Half-Life to the back of the games cupboard. And this is just the preview version. We're waiting with baited breath for the finished creation.
Go on a bit more...
There's all sorts of clever stuff in H&D. Say you've just shot a German guard, you can crawl over to his dead body and relieve him of his stick grenades and machine gun. A nice touch because the amount of ammo and weapons you take into each campaign is limited so your supplies become a consideration. And there's a great part in mission three where you're preparing a railway station to be bombed at night. Shoot out the searchlights, render the anti-aircraft guns inoperative then set fire to a petrol tanker to guide the bombers in. It's well thought-out, heart-poundingly tense stuff. We especially like being able to clear out a machine gun nest, then going in and have a go on the machine gun yourself.
*It's Commandos in three dimensions!
*Very well designed missions
*They're bloomin' tough and require thought to complete too
*The attention to detail is evident in every quarter
*Choosing your supplies before you have an idea of what's ahead could be a mistake
