Price drops, eh? That fantastic thing. Of course price drops will affect games sales. This recent drop has been such an incentive to buy new games and I feel that it's really working and that in the long run the effect will be excellent. Sony's PlayStation has shown its dominant strength over the Nintendo world by placing new games at the same price as those released on budget by Nintendo.
Once again, I feel that this is a great step towards achieving Sony's goal - to conquer the entire world on a gaming level.
Unfortunately, I won't be buying Driver on the PlayStation because I want to play it on my PC with my Voodoo3.

I know that new PlayStation games cost less than new N64 ones but I thought I'd let N64 users know that if you shop around, you can pick up older games at Platinum prices. I got Wipeout 64 at a sale price of £20 at Beatties and I must say it's brilliant, better than PlayStation WipeOut 2097. It isn't a PlayStation port, either - well, all the tracks are different, but not the ships.
Also, I picked up a new copy of V-Rally 99 on the N64 for £17, but to be honest, this is, sadly, a straight port of the Platinum V-Rally. Strangely, I played the N64 version in a shop and thought that it was much more controllable than the PlayStation version, but now at home it's just as uncontrollable. Hint - don't get it. I also thought I saw a new Turok 2 for £20. Needless to say, used games can be even cheaper - some good ones I've seen for £15 are F-ZeroX, F1WGP and Body Harvest, so shop around.

Of course the prices should be the same. If Nintendo hope to gain any ground on the PlayStation in its last years, prices have to drop. There's no doubt existing owners would buy more games. I saw The Phantom Menace the other day and if Racer on N64 wasn't a wallet busting £50, I would have probably bought it. Instead I'll save my money for a more worthwhile purchase. I've heard that Racer is lacking in replay value so I'd only buy it if it was reasonably priced - I'd say £30 is a reasonable price.
