Quake 2 page 2 of 2
N64

Even with all four players going mental in a fragfest arena, the speed of the game never drops. There's little in life that's as satisfying as standing up high and bouncing a few grenades down on top of your unsuspecting buddies. Rocket launcher in the face more your style? Help yourself. It's not just straight deathmatching either (although that's the best way to play by far) - you can team up to play a little capture the flag too.

Let's face it, as good as GoldenEye was with its stealthy antics and mission-based one-player game, if you want gore, delightfully splattery sound effects and the kind of weapons the American army would dream of using in a friendly fire incident, you have to go with Quake 2. The graphics are right up there with the PC and there's so much depth to the one-player game that you'll be glued to it for weeks.

As for multiplayer, it's right up there with GoldenEye and Mario Kart, plus it's the nastiest and most vindictive gang-frag out there. Be prepared for it to be tough, but ultimately rewarding. Quake 2 on the N64 is a violent work of art.
