You're not alone then?
When you're playing scenarios or the campaign game, you can find yourself in charge of several 'wingmen'. You can be leading a platoon of tanks to engage the enemy, for example, and issue specific orders to the rest of the bunch.
Sounds like fun
It is. The early version we've been playing is nerve-wracking stuff - the tension's incredible! We don't tend to last that long though.
The enemy's tough then?
They're certainly no mugs.
Does it look good?
Yep, as the screenshots show. It's fast, smooth and you're going to need a 3D acceleration card to get the most out of it, but that's nothing unusual these days.
What of multiplayer?
Oh, now you're talking. Not only can you join a deathmatch platoon and go after some real-life opposition, you can jump into a co-operative tank and help some others out. We wouldn't bother with this 'let's work together' approach though - we'll just be going for the kill.
But aren't tanks, well, dull after 10 minutes?
Oh, how could you? Well, yes, they are. That's why Psygnosis have had to come up with some decent scenarios for you to play your way through and the ones we've played have certainly had us coming back for more. If you're into your armoured vehicular combat then the chances are you're going to be well pleased with Panzer Elite. It's not doing anything radically different in terms of gameplay, but what it does it does extremely well.
Ich bin ein Berliner
