| Tarzan |
| Game Boy Color |
From: Activision |
His Royal Apeness makes a storming appearance on the Game Boy Color in Activision's excellent high-speed platform adventure. Tarzan is far superior to most of the platforming-by-numbers titles that seem to pop up on Nintendo's handheld on a daily basis. Playing first as young Tarzan, then as his blue monkey sidekick Terk, and finally as the vine-swinging superstar himself, the aim of the game is to gather bananas. We've no idea why, but Tarzan's fruit fetish leads him into all sorts of trouble, which only his acrobatic skills can save him from. Plus there's a two-player hide and seek game and a little paint shop in which you can print out jungle scenes. It's aimed at younger players, but any platform fan should enjoy it.

| Madden NFL 2000 |
| Game Boy Color |
From: THQ |
American football isn't the easiest thing to do well on a Game Boy Color, as anyone unfortunate enough to have wasted good money on the dire NFL Blitz will gladly tell you. Madden NFL 2000 is a different story though, and even if it doesn't quite match up to its PlayStation and N64 versions, it's the best gridiron action you can get on a handheld. It uses the same tried and tested passing system (the best you'll find anywhere), the same moves and many of the same plays as the bigger Madden games do. There's just a little less of it, which makes it a little too easy to beat.
