Yeah, whatever. I was pretty good at Soul Calibur in my local arcade.
And how much money did you spend to get that good? The best thing about Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast is that it's actually better than the arcade version, and if you've got a hefty TV you'll be in heaven. It's faster, prettier and has more modes of play than the arcade original, and in the long run you'll save a lot of money.
What play modes are on offer?
All the old faves, plus a few extras. There's arcade, versus, team battle, time attack, survival, practice, mission battle and museum. The last two may need some explanation: mission battle is a kind of quest mode - loads of text broken up by the occasional scrap. Museum mode allows you to view pictures which are unlocked by completing different parts of the game, as well as watch two computer-controlled fighters of your choice go at it.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy Soul Calibur?
Uh... no. Unless you hate fighting games. Even so, it would be worth getting just to look at, or better still, to show all your mates just how good your new Dreamcast is.
Looks better than your mate's sister naked (almost)
Feels a lot like Tekken, but better
Plenty of characters with diverse techniques
More combinations than a really expensive safe
You'll need to fork out for a Dreamcast
