And what kind of units are there?
There are your normal land-based units but Pandemic have also introduced air and sea units for you to command, with fancy-dan names like Rumblers, Aquanaughts and Stingers.

Multiplayer?
Natch. There's Internet and LAN support and players can take part in co-operative play, capture the flag and king of the hill modes. Up to eight players can take part in each game.

What's it look like?
The early version we've seen looks lovely. You're going to need some hardware acceleration to get it running, but hey! We've all got that now, haven't we?

But I've just got Tib' Sun...
Don't let that cloud your thinking. Although DRII's an RTS, the introduction of true 3D makes a huge difference to how you play. There's a lot more strategic and tactical thinking to be done here. Picture the scene: you know some enemy units are hiding in a forest just over the next hill - you don't want to confront them directly so you have to think sneakily. Why not burn down the forest they're hiding in? That'll put the wind up 'em.

I should say. So it's not all tank-rushing then?
There's room for that old favourite tactic, but no, you're not going to be able to get away with it all the time.

Duck!
Quack.

  • Zoom right in on the action
  • And wahey! Back out again
  • Heightened levels of AI
  • A true 3D RTS
  • But they all say that...
