Sudden Strike page 2 of 2

Wearing a corset and giving a cheeky over-the-shoulder wink to 'the boys at the front'?
That sort of thing. Sudden Strike looks absolutely stunning and yet it's not just a pretty face. The units are rather intelligent (you have to see them pop out of cover, lob a grenade and then hide again) and they actually gain experience during missions. Leave a soldier standing around too long and he'll start whistling or smoking... like a trooper. You can even hide the little fellas inside buildings. The way that units can co-operate is particularly refreshing - an unmanned Howitzer can't do anything but add a soldier and you can fire it. Add another and you'll be able to move it, and check this out for clever - hook it up to the back of a truck and you can move it far more quickly.

Very clever indeed. Respect due.
Best of all, it's no more complicated to control than C&C, and you can destroy all on-screen objects, with persistent craters and burnt out units. And it's got a multiplayer mode.

They are really spoiling us!
Sudden Strike will support at least 12 players on four different teams. You can be France...

Have you actually played it?
But of course! We've been having quite a lot of fun with a very early version. However, there are a few little things that will hopefully have changed by the time it's finished. Our main gripe is with the 'fog of war' - it's just too damned close. An enemy can be right next to you and you're completely unaware, until BOOM! Sort it out please, CDV Software.

Do say...
We'll go over the top while your boys establish a beachhead

Don't say...
Why can't we all just get along?

  • Graphically sublime, with brains to boot
  • Intuitive control system
  • Loads of authentic WWII units
  • Up to 1,000 units per scenario
  • They had better sort out the 'fog of war'
