Arcade-style golf should be a laugh, but just one look at this cutesy affair, which is nowhere near as good as Mario Golf, will be enough to make most gamers shudder and make hastily for the 19th tee. Harsh? No. Cyber Tiger, ('young' Tiger Woods) and his young, pert-nosed friends, are unlikely to charm you hardened gamers, we're afraid, particularly because the bright and colourful - nay, garish - wallpaper-type graphics make the game a wholly arbitrary affair. The little trick shots you can access (balls with wings, etc) fail to relieve the horror of it all, and the control system is so hands-off you find yourself chucking your clubs about more times on a round than Monty does during a whole season. Don't go near it.
Take the great qualities of the smooth, almost mystic Gran Turismo and substitute them for mayhem, smoke, fumes and flames. Add a few auto parts flying though the air and you have Demolition Racer. The point of this game is not finishing first, but to earn as many points during a race as possible by damaging opponents, while trying to remain more or less intact yourself. There are 16 cars in every race to ensure maximum car-nage and 10 tracks in all to choose from. Add to this three bowls, a Chicken Mode and stock car racing and you're in some twisted mechanic's idea of heaven. None of it's pretty to look at, but the cars handle well and who gives a monkey's what they look like if they're going to end up pieces afterwards anyway? Get in there.
