Combat?
Turn-based or real-time? The game supports both systems, which, if it's done correctly, should suit everyone's favoured fighting style.

Neat. What about online?
Multiplayer is supported but the details are sketchy at the moment. All we know is that you can join some friends online and go adventuring with them or seek out other bands of online gamers to have a scrap with.

Any nice little touches?
The game's dynamic lighting should make it look rather nice. Shadows cast from objects change shape and colour according to the time of day. This isn't just cosmetic, because your party's abilities are affected by the time of the day - fighting and thieving become a lot harder when you can't see too well, for example.

Still, it's a crowded genre and something has to be a bit special to stand out.
True enough. Troika Games reckon they've got the balance right in that they've given the player an enormous amount of freedom - you don't have to be a hero of the people, for example - and your actions will have an effect on the rest of the game world.

Do say...
Hand over your money or I'll chop your legs off.

Don't say...
My true chaotic half-good character won't allow me to steal things.

  • Classless game characters
  • You can leave all the statistics stuff to the computer
  • Turn-based or real-time fighting to choose from
  • Fantasy meets the Industrial Revolution
  • Just another RPG in a slightly different world?
