No?
Indeed. Some of them are actually battling against the hordes of Necros, like the Dwarfs. And the Yeti.
The Yeti?
Yep. These famous, mythical animals are alive and doing well in this game, and you can be sure that they have a part in the fate of our Drake.
Remarkable. What's the combat like?
Pretty laid back, really. Things certainly don't move very fast. You wander around the nicely drawn, atmospheric environments picking up spells and weapons, slashing up the odd zombie here, meeting someone there and then going off on a quest, all the time occasionally dipping into your spell bag to use against opponents who are more formidable or numerous. It's enjoyable and engrossing, all the more so because of the twisting storyline.
And the spells?
You have your usual shield spells with which to protect yourself, as well as a variety of attack spells with suitably cataclysmic names like Holy Wrath, some of which can kick-up quite a decent fireworks display. These spells all have different effects on different creatures, and they become much more potent the more powerful you become. Whether you rely on weapons more than magic is up to you, but a balance between the two is effective for most occasions.
Mmm. It all sounds like a jolly romp, I must say.
It is. Crusaders doesn't break any new ground at all, but it does have a nice balance of action and dialogue, and it provides a world and a story you can become immersed in. From what we've seen of it so far, if you like games like Legacy of Kain, Crusaders could come in handy come the rainy season.
Do say...
This might not be a bad game.
Don't say...
Yeti 'nother RPG.
An engrossing storyline
Nice balance between talk and action
Lots of friends and enemies to deal with
Builds purposefully to a climax
It's got yeti in it
