Coming on import soon for Dreamcast are two classic 2D titles, both of which are beat 'em ups. Gaining a cult following is no easy task, but both the King Of Fighters and the Marvel vs... series have achieved this as if it was child's play. The latest updates in the series, King of Fighters '99: Evolution and Marvel vs Capcom 2, are tipped to be very popular and decent titles. A conversion into PAL of Marvel vs Capcom 2 is expected but a King of Fighters conversion is highly doubtful. The classic Saturn and arcade light gun game Virtua Cop 2 is also soon to be released on Dreamcast. Rather than using exactly the same graphics as the Saturn or arcade versions, the title has been revamped and is now better than arcade perfect.
PlayStation
PlayStation titles continue to sell strongly, even in the light of PlayStation2. It may come as a surprise to some that Colin McRae Rally has only recently been converted for the American market. The fine detail of the PAL version remains intact and in areas such as frame rate, the NTSC version excels.
Most of the best Japanese RPGs stay that way: Japanese. Not so for Saga Frontier 2. The decision to translate this game to English proved itself a good one, as sales will attest. As a Square title, you can expect an enthralling experience and a cracking plot. Battles feature prominently in Saga Frontier 2, as do other standard RPG features. A shining aspect of the game is the captivating soundtrack, which is on the same level as the Final Fantasy series.
Also, despite originally not looking as if it was a prime example of Square's capabilities, Vagrant Story has turned out to be great. Visually, it isn't exactly breathtaking. Where it does stand out is in the gripping plot and outstanding playability. Obviously, as it's only available in Japanese, the plot won't interest most, and perhaps it may be better to wait for an English translation.
