Ah, so there's a gang of you?
Well, up to two other 'heroes' can come under your control and you can switch between them at will. Like we say though, controlling everyone during combat takes some getting used to.

You got killed didn't you?
Yes.

Surely you'll have simply saved the game just as the baddies appeared though?
No such luck mate. In Silver you're only allowed to save your position at certain points - when the ghostly Chronicler appears, so you can find yourself having to restart from way back if you get lax.

Hmm. Does that work?
Surprisingly well. And it certainly gets you more emotionally attached to David as you fight to keep him alive.

It's tough then…
It is.

And what of magic?
There's plenty. You'll be lobbing fireballs around like there's no tomorrow.

I've seen the screenshots - it certainly looks purdy.
Oh it is. The backgrounds are all superb and the developers have been a little bit clever in that each location loads in separately and your 3D characters run around over the top of them. This means you've got a couple of seconds' wait every time you switch location, but it doesn't get in the way of the gameplay.

You like it then…
Certainly do. It could well do for the RPG genre what Grim Fandango has done for the adventure genre.

*Intuitive, realtime combat system in an RPG
* And boy, it's a looker too
* Good plot, good characters, good pacing
* It's going to take some time to complete
* Controlling more than one character during combat is tricky
