Beetle Adventure Racing page 2 of 2
N64

Cool as! How about some multiplayer action?
Oh yes. There’s no shortage of multiplayer high jinks to be had here. Firstly there’s your regular two-player racing, head to head on a split-screen. Great fun for a while, but there aren’t any other cars on the track. The real fun is to be had in the Beetle Battle mode. Up to four players can tear around one of nine arenas, scrabbling to get all of the ladybirds.

Ladybirds?
Ladybirds. They appear one at a time and change colour every couple of seconds. You’ll need to time it exactly right if you’re going to get all the colours before your mates do. There is a liberal scattering of pick-ups with which to wreak havoc, including mines, rockets and shields. Mystery items have various amusing effects – sometimes even turning your opponents’ screens upside down.

That sounds like fun. But surely the novelty of driving a VW Beetle will wear a tad thin with time?
Although the Beetle is the only car involved there are plenty of variations to keep you happy for a while. Some of the tastier machines are locked and can only be accessed after you have satisfied certain criteria, be it achieving a super-fast lap time or maybe picking up the required amount of bonus points.

I’ll bear that in mind.
Enjoy.

*Beautiful graphics really push N64 racing to a new level
*Four-player Beetle Battle will provide much mirth
*Massive tracks offer plenty of variety
*Great if you like the Volkswagen Beetle…
*… not so great if you don’t
