Rare’s graphical prowess is clearly evident here
Rare are certainly keeping themselves busy at the moment, with three serious contenders in the works. Perfect Dark is still a long way off and Donkey Kong 64 a millennium away. Will Jet Force Gemini be enough to keep us busy in the meantime?

You tell me!
Judging from Rare’s track record (and the screenshots), Jet Force Gemini is going to be much more than just a filler. The visuals are groundbreaking, as you would expect from the developers of GoldenEye and Banjo-Kazooie, and it’s more than likely that the gameplay will be of a similarly high standard.
3D platformer or first-person shooter?
None of the above. More of a third-person shooter in platform shoes. Imagine Mario 64 with big guns, or maybe Body Harvest. The evil intergalactic tyrant Mizar is threatening the safety of the universe and it’s up to Jet Force Gemini to thwart him. The three members of the team - Juno, Vela and their faithful pooch Lupus - take different paths to Mizar’s home planet, where they will regroup for the final battle.
Juno and Vela are all well and good… but I’m not going to play as a damned dog!
That’s a shame because Lupus is a hot dog. He’s got jet engines in his paws and an impressive arsenal of rockets and missiles, making him a rather useful member of the team. Anyway, it looks as though you’ll have to use all the characters at some time or another during play, since each of them has certain unique skills required to complete a given mission.
