Dear Future Gamer

I thought that a note of appreciation for your magazine was in order so here goes with a couple of comments. I have only just started to receive the weekly missive and must say that I am pleasantly surprised at both the content and the writing. Most paper-based magazines seem to assume that we are either morons or technical wizards but you seem to have got it just right, at least for the two that I have read.

As it happens I have just cancelled my subscription to a PC magazine and will no longer be buying one from the newsagent every fortnight. The reason being, of course, that after about 12 months things start to get repetitive and anyway, they were beginning to get a bit boring.

So, why did I get an N64? Well the PC is a 120 Pentium and the graphics card is a bit long in the tooth so instead of paying a fortune to upgrade I decided to go for a console and have done with it. After all, the PC is good enough for everything else so if it ain't broke then don't fix it.

I find the N64 absolutely stunning and both my wife and I are hooked on Zelda. Talking of Zelda I read in a gaming magazine about a 14-year-old boy complaining that Zelda was not that good as he finished it very quickly. My immediate thought was how sad that is, that a kid of his age has to spend that long sat in front of a TV playing games. His life must be sadly lacking something.

Well that's it. Thank you for the magazine. (Just for interest I am 58 and my wife is 59).

Regards

Dennis Townson

FG: Glad you like the magazine. We like to think we’ve got the tone about right too, though you can’t please all of the people all of the time. As for the 14-year-old, as soon as he discovers girls, Zelda won’t get another look in. I’m also glad to hear from someone your age enjoying games, if only more people of your generation were as enlightened we gamers wouldn’t get half the bad press we do.
