The Language of Videogaming
|
| Miyamoto |
You know. Shigeru? Shigeru Miyamoto? The world’s greatest videogame designer? Despite the PlayStation’s dominance in the console market, Nintendo’s Miyamoto remains the undisputed, heavyweight champion. Even superstars like Sir Paul McCartney and Steven Spielberg have made pilgrimages to meet the Japanese fellow. What’s he done? Try Super Mario World, Mario 64, Zelda and Donkey Kong Country. He could probably have made GoldenEye 007, but here’s the thing, Miyamoto makes games which don’t rely on extreme violence. He builds complete, atmospheric gaming worlds, the type of which Lara Croft can only dream of. Miyamoto’s probably making Mario for the Nintendo 128 Super DVD 2000 as we speak.
