And beyond. CWC '99 will have a feature called EA SPORTS.net. This makes full use of the player's Internet connection, enabling them to play against up to 14 other real-life opponents and to get free direct downloads of up-to-the-minute player, team and weather news as the event's happening.

How are they going to sell this one to the Americans?
With difficulty. They are, however, very aware of the novice and hoping the game's interface will enable a first-time player to pick up the game and know pretty quickly what they're supposed to be doing while at the same time having enough scope to keep an aficionado happy. There's even going to be a limited management aspect to the game whereby the player will get to decide tactics, player placements, batting orders and so on.

Can Mr de Plater have the last word?
