N64

Why would they want to do that?
The N64 is a very different beast to the PC - Activision want this version to play to the console's strengths. Some PC levels simply couldn't be done on the N64 without a drastic cut in frame rates. And then there's the mouse issue - most PC first-person gamers use a mouse and keys combination, enabling quick turns and accurate shooting. This degree of accuracy is impossible using the analogue stick, so these limitations are reflected in the design of the new levels.

New levels? W... wh... what?
Oh yes! There are 19 all-new, mission-based, single-player levels for you to blast your way through. And then you've got the multiplayer stuff.

Bwak!
?

Excuse me. I just vomited with excitement. Please, do go on.
Hmm. The multiplayer action is going to be an absolute killer. Up to four players can partake of some deathmatch, as well as a variety of other modes:

'Frag Teams' allows for two-on-two or three-on-one action with a novel twist - if the solo player takes out any of his three enemies, he'll be rewarded with three frags;

'Flag Wars' is your good ol' capture the flag;

'Death Tag' is the same as the 'Flag Tag' mode in GoldenEye - a timed game where the person who holds the flag the longest is victorious.

There are eight huge arenas to choose from and, incredibly, there is no loss of frame rate in multiplayer games.

It all sounds too good to be true.
But it is.

What?
True.

*19 original single-player missions
*Lovely realtime lighting effects...
*... yet still an incredibly fast frame rate
*Multiplayer mayhem never fails to amuse
*It's Quake II on the N64! And it's good!
