Future Gamer: Issue 27 £0.00

What a week, eh? It's the Electronic Entertainment Exposition in Los Angeles, Nintendo announce a partnership with electronics behemoth Matsushita and leak a few of the specs for their next console ('Project Dolphin' – sounds fishy, eh?), and Sega confirm that a modem and browser will be bundled with the Dreamcast when it launches in the UK on September 23. Darn it, I've gone and spoiled the News section for you…

Editor of this august weekly (and daily, don’t forget) Andy 'Wiffy' Smith is in Los Angeles for the posh-named videogame show and we’ll no doubt discover just how much work he's doing in next week’s issue. Look out for the lowdown on what was hot at the show in seven days time.

What else to tell? There's an excellent review of Metal Gear Solid-wannabe Syphon Filter for the PlayStation – it's a surprisingly decent snipe 'em up, too.

Oh, and don't forget to read the splendid Game Kid's Secret Diary in the Gamer Life section. The Kid’s been taking a lot of time off work to play Championship Manager 3 and he’s gotten himself into a bit of a sticky situation…

In this issue:
Preview: Quake 2 (N64)
Midway made a right mess of their Quake port for the N64, so this time around the dubious honour goes to Activision. But can the N64 handle a game like Quake II? Of course it can – anyone remember GoldenEye?
Review: Syphon Filter (PlayStation)
Bearing more than a passing resemblance to Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter certainly commands a lot of attention. Is it simply a clone, jumping on a lucrative bandwagon, or a great game in its own right? Read on…
Feature: Estimating the power of PlayStation
The concluding episode of our two-part feature looks at Sony's track record since the launch of PlayStation and considers the reality of their next gen console: a DVD-compatible, digitally interconnectible, multi-purpose home entertainment system?
