Accolade are currently working on Test Drive 6 for the PlayStation (and the PC as well, no doubt). This latest incarnation will feature 40 cars, including a selection of classics from the '60s and '70s, and 30 all-new tracks to tear up. The now-mandatory Police Pursuit mode will be present, along with a new Pink Slip mode – beat your friend and you get his car! Nothing to do with girls underwear then. Damn.
Rumour has it that Capcom have been spilling some beans, namely that Nintendo are busy working on Game Boy Color 2. The new handheld is alleged to be capable of displaying many more colours than its predecessor, thanks to new display technology. We’re sure that Nintendo will be thrilled to learn this.
Sony are planning to release Everybody’s Golf 2 for PlayStation in July. It will feature many new tournament modes, as well as a selection of mini-games for the PocketStation. The original Everybody’s Golf sold over 1.6 million units in Japan. And it was great.
Everyone loves a mermaid, those beautiful mythological maidens of the sea, none more so than Xing Entertainment who are currently working on a new PlayStation RPG called Meremanoid. The game is set in an ocean world populated by many different types of mermaid, known as ‘meremanoids’ for some bizarre reason. Your task, as one of the aforementioned creatures, is to wander around trying to discover the history of your species. Featuring the 'Aquatic Battle Impressive System'(?), Meremanoid should be released sometime this summer.
Naughty Dog, creators of the Crash Bandicoot series, are currently working on a new racing game for the PlayStation. Crash Team Racing features characters from the popular platform game, tearing around in go-karts, and boasts four-player action with plenty of power-ups. Sounds familiar. It is actually looking very nice at this early stage. Expect a Future Gamer preview in the coming months.
Capcom are testing Street Fighter EX Plus 2 in a Japanese arcade at this moment. Whether it will appear on PlayStation 2 or Dreamcast is not yet known, as Capcom representatives declined to comment. It's glaringly obvious that the real question is 'when and on what platforms?' rather than 'will it?'
