| LMP launch R&D programme |
Peripherals and games in perfect harmony?
Leda Media Products have announced the Custom Controller Programme, a facility which enables software developers to research and potentially manufacture gaming accessories specific to a gaming style or one game. The main idea is that the programme can exploit potential 'synergies' between LMP's range of gaming peripherals and the particular software in development (they have the Gamester brand of pads and sticks).
"The notion of creating bespoke gaming accessories for one game or genre has proven very successful in Japan - as have items that have filtered through from Japan to Europe and the US," said LMP's Mike Eglington. "This co-development programme is very much an open book for us as it is for developers and publishers. Our ultimate goal is to work hand in hand with developers and understand their vision of the playing experience and where the software and hardware can fit around that. Naturally, we aim to create units that add to gameplay rather than be a novelty accompaniment".
So when can we expect to see a special shoes/Twister-style mat for PaRappa the Rapper, Um Jammer Lammy and Bust-A-Grove? Eh? EH?
