Soul Fighter page 2 of 2 |
Dreamcast |
Point taken. Are there any throwing weapons? I love chucking stuff, me!
Are you a 'woodchuck'?
What?
Don't worry. Soul Fighter is chock-full of chuckage, be it the knife, the axe or the oil bomb (a primitive grenade). When you use any of these weapons, the view switches from third to first-person, allowing for an accurate aim. This also applies to the crossbow, which is more of a self-chucking device by definition. There are 14 different weapons in all, though some are exclusive to a particular character.
How are the levels looking at this stage?
Vast and varied. And very pretty. Some of the action takes place indoors - one level is based in a cathedral, another is set in an arena - while at other times you'll find yourself in a labyrinth or spooky forest. One particularly interesting level takes place on a boat that actually sets sail part of the way through. Some of the levels are interspersed with cut-scenes...
Boo!
... Which are actually very nice.
Hurray!
They use the game engine and look bloomin' lovely in high resolution.
Respect due! So when can I get my grubby mitts on it?
On the same day that you buy your Dreamcast, if all goes to plan. But be sure to wait until we've played the finished product and given you the low-down, okay?
Yes. But only because I love you!
Ooh, you've got a sauce.
*Lovely arcade-style action in the comfort of your own home
*Beautifully animated characters...
*... with combo-performing abilities and a stack of weapons
*Large and varied levels keep the action fresh
*Shame there's no multiplayer action planned
