So what's that got to do with Armorines then?
It just seemed like a nice way to soften the blow. You see, a bunch of giant alien bugs have landed in Siberia with the intention of taking over the world. As an Armorine, you've been charged with stopping the creepy crawlies from achieving their goal.

Sounds a bit like the film Starship Troopers.
Indeed it does, and what a great film it was too. In fact, Armorines is best described as Turok 2 with big bugs and extra stuff.

Why?
Because it uses the Turok 2 engine. There are plenty of changes though, one of the biggest being the chance to play from a third-person perspective. It should be a bit faster too, at the expense of a few polygons in the bug models. But that's not to say that the bugs are unimpressive - they look great and are very well animated.

Which types of bug do I get to slaughter?
Each level will feature a family of bugs. A typical bug family consists of four basic types - 'Queen', 'Brain', 'Guard' and 'Soldier'.

Tell me about the Queen. The Queen interests me.
Like most species in the insect world, the bugs in Armorines are ruled by a Queen. She controls the hive and chucks out loads of eggs. She is protected by Guards and Soldiers. But don't think for a minute that she's weak - if you manage to get past her minions she'll tear off her egg-sack and thwack you around the bonce with it. Or something.
