A Site For Sore Eyes
|
| A Bike for Sore Arse |
Regular readers will recognise our humorous title for this week's A Site For Sore Eyes, which is all about, yup, the Tour de France.
The world's most famous bike race is trundling its way around France (with a bit of Italy, Belgium and probably some other countries) at the moment, and in order to keep up with what's going on, you'll want to point your browser towards the marvellous Tour de France site.
It's got everything you could possibly want, with major, detailed and thoroughly entertaining input from Phil Liggett, stage descriptions and maps, plus photos from the previous day's action. There are competitions to enter and a whole host of interesting snippets to tickle your Tour taste buds, such this trivia snippet: 'In 1919, Firmin Lambot took 21 hours and four minutes to complete the 468km stage from Metz to Dunkirk.'
There are some fascinating historical facts about some of the more famous landmarks along the route, such as the awesome Alp d'Huez, so get yourselves along there and be thankful you don't have to spend hours in a saddle, pedalling up massive mountains at an average speed of 40kph!
