You're saying it's a cheap cash-in on the license, then?
Heaven forbid, no. This is a big game with a load of levels. Seven worlds and 21 sub-levels based on the TV series are included. Think Valarian's Castle, Amazon Village and Dyzan's Lair. Also, some of the main characters from the series are included, such as Ares, Hades and Gabriel, plus newly created characters Kalabrax and - get this - the Amazon Bird Women.
What's Xena got in her armoury?
She's got a lovely war chest, and the lass has some 30 different manoeuvres, including backflips and bicycle kicks. More importantly, Xena has a fantastic selection of weapons to aid her killing spree (she starts off with a long sword and a Chakram - the Frisbee), as well as a number of mysterious powers. Heck, this is fantasy, after all...
What about mythical creatures?
Thought you'd never ask! Xena takes on dragons, ogres, cylops's (is that right?), a golem, a dryad and a minotaur. Quite remarkable. The end-of-level bosses are quite ferocious so approach with caution.
So, then...
Look, Xena: Warrior Princess is not going to be the best videogame in the world, but hey, it's kind of fun in a 'wander-around-in-a-skimpy-outfit-killing-people' sort of way. And we like that sort of thing at Future Gamer. Especially on a Saturday night.
* It's Xena. She's bonkers
* She's got a huge array of moves
* And some fiendish weapons
* Rather repetitive at times
* How much did the license cost?
