Whatever. So is Diddy in this one?
Indeed he is, along with Tiny, Chunky and Lanky. The names say it all, really. You'll need to use each of the five characters effectively in order to succeed - Lanky will be able to reach areas inaccessible to Diddy, Tiny can squeeze through small gaps, etc. There are 109 special moves distributed between the hirsute crew, and you'll need to master them all before you reach the end.
So how many levels can we expect?
Umpteen, or something. Rare are keeping very tight-lipped with this one, but rest assured that this game will be huge. There'll also be plenty of mini games that play like the fun-tabulous Mario Party. One of the most promising mini games bears more than a passing resemblance to the arcade classic Super Sprint (little cars racing around a track, viewed from overhead). As with Super Mario 64, not all the levels will involve running, jumping and shooting - occasionally you'll be given a brief respite in the form of mine cart racing or first-person cannon blasts.
Sounds fantastic, providing the graphics are up to scratch.
Of course the graphics are 'up to scratch'; have you forgotten that Donkey Kong 64 is being developed by Rare? Or that you need an Expansion Pak in order to make the thing work? Listen up - Donkey Kong 64 is going to be a visual treat, with more fancy lighting effects than you could shake a monkey at. And as for the wonderful animation...
* Huge, well-designed levels
* Graphically astounding - there's life in the old N64 yet
* Replete with high-quality mini games
* Not one, not two, but five primates to play with
* You get a free Expansion Pak
