Metal Gear Solid VR Missions page 2 of 2
PlayStation

The real centrepiece of Metal Gear Solid VR is the murder mystery. In true Murder She Wrote style, you have a body and a group of suspects (who all dress the same to make it that little bit more confusing). Your job is to examine the clues and suss out who the murdering vagabond is. A quick choke and grab while heading towards the exit and the case is solved. Yeah, we know it's obscure, but at least it's totally original and surprisingly addictive.

Seeing as the entire PlayStation playing population of the world has spent at least a few hours on the original game (and for most of us that would have been more than enough time to complete the bugger), almost everyone should know what to expect from this, and no doubt some will be disappointed with what's on offer. But remember, this is most definitely not a sequel (which is happening if the current rumour mill is to be believed), more of an add-on for those who enjoyed some of the more thrilling aspects of the original.

While it may not rate as highly as Metal Gear Solid, any true fan of that game won't be able to resist pitting their newly acquired skills against the ultimate Solid test. That's the best way to look at the VR missions disc; if you thought Metal Gear was too easy, try some of the skill trials on offer in the VR missions to see how tough it could have been.

FG verdict
Rip off or worthy add-on? We're going for the latter. Enjoyable, challenging and, most of all, a little bit different. Well worth a look. 89%
