Virtual lunchboxes! Like it...
Anyway. Fishing. You can fish in tournaments (they generally last for about an hour) and choose from eight difficulty levels. Every fish is weighed and the biggest takes the spoils.
Is it easy to land one?
Phew! Depends on the size. You can find yourself in the most tactical of battles with some of them as they strain on the line. You can't just whup 'em out without so much as a by-your-leave; you need to keep reeling them in while ensuring the line doesn't snap, and this can put a considerable strain on the right thumb, as well as the joypad. Fishing might sound like a peaceful pastime but it asks questions of your Dual Shock like no other game.
How do you know what lure to choose?
The manual details all seven types of bait, and points out which are best for the six different types of fish which lurk in the four lakes. It's a helpful little tome, even deciphering the most complex of terminology. How about this? "Angler: The person who is fishing." Always handy to know, eh?
Can I fish with a pal?
You can indeed. There's a two-player option which sees you go fish-to-fish on a split-screen, so you can ask questions of a friend's tiddler without a trace of embarrassment.
Will it grab me hook, line and sinker?
Hee hee! You're right on the money today! As far as digital fishing goes, this is perfectly enjoyable fare, if a little tiring on the thumbs. Mind you, the Dreamcast's Get Bass! has its own special reel. You don't get that with the PlayStation. Never mind.
