Footballers on Speed

Dear Future Gamer

I have a request regarding the upcoming FIFA 2000 game for the PlayStation and any review you guys put out about the game. I'm a complete and utter football sim nut and have to play them all. When FIFA 99 came out, virtually every reviewer gave it a unanimously rave review, and deservedly so - except for one major thing. This time around, could the reviewer make a note of just how the speed of the game affects the quality of play at World Class level, etc? Nobody reviewing FIFA 99 seemed to take a look at the fact that at World Class level, FIFA 99 degenerated into a super-high-paced button smash. If a commentator were to do real-time commentary to FIFA 99, they would have major problems.

I've emailed EA Sports to voice this concern but never got a reply; nor do I know if my email was even seen by those responsible for the game. A game that got amazing reviews in my opinion wasn't as great as made out simply because of this speed issue. Variations from normal (super fast) to fastest (insane) were a bummer, and I'm hoping we don't see the same again. I rely partly on reviews to make decisions about whether or not I buy a game straight away or wait until the hire stores have them.

Mike

FG: Reviews can never take everyone's personal preferences into account. You might think a certain game plays too fast whereas others think it's just right. Good games these days, like ISS Pro Evolution, contain options that let you control the game speed, so maybe you should be looking to games like that.
