Force 21 - Out now in the shops
Issue 47 - September 30, 1999

A Site For Sore Eyes
Leftfield

We're all dubbed up and feelin' phat in the Future Gamer offices this week, since we got our eager paws on the new Leftfield album, Rhythm and Stealth. And craving pints of Guinness every time the Phat Planet track (from the great Guinness ad with the surfers and horses) comes on, but that's irrelevant.

What's relevant is that Leftfield have a website that's as cutting edge and damn groovy as their music. There's all the usual stuff, like up to the minute news, discography, shop and band info, including real video interviews. On top of that, you can download loads of remixes and audio clips of your favourite tunes and see the fantastic, but unfortunately banned, video for latest single, Afrika Shox. Directed by the bad boy of music videos, Chris Cunningham (who's also done stuff for Bjork and Aphex Twin), it's a very darkly humorous effort, involving a bloke carelessly losing his limbs...

And speaking of which, you can download a related game, the Afrika Shox version of Frogger. What more could you ask for? A classic retro game with cutting edge music. Fantastic. With a chat forum (feel free to give Future Gamer a plug), a screensaver, samples every time you click on a link and the ability to remix your own tracks, Leftfield Online is the way all music sites should be done.
