Hall of Shame

| Microcosm (Amiga CD32) |
"It will redefine computer entertainment," read the blurb. Yes, Psygnosis' graphically dazzling, gameplay-poor 3D title was supposed to convert us all to the new CD format. Sadly, it only proved that all Psygnosis could do with the new CD format was use it as a new storage medium. Essentially, you were supposed to be playing some bizarre shoot 'em up, flying around the insides of some alien, shooting alien germs and collecting pick ups. The demo videos of the game looked impressive enough, but in reality it chugged and the gameplay was non-existent.
The CD32 version bombed, as did the PC version, and we all had to wait a while longer for developers to get their heads around the fact that although you could stream fancy graphics from a CD, there needed to be some gameplay to back it up if it was going to succeed as a game. This didn't.
