Mini-Review
|
| Carmageddon |
| Game Boy Color |
From: SCi |
Anyone unfortunate enough to have endured the N64 version of Carmageddon, one of the most hideously unplayable games of all time, wouldn't hold out much hope for the Game Boy conversion. And true to form, Carmageddon on the small screen is utterly crap, if not quite in the same league as its bigger brother. At least you get a reasonable idea of where the tracks are supposed to go. At least the computer cars don't flip over and slide back down steep hills. That doesn't make it the kind of game any sensible person would want to waste real cash on though, particularly when the far superior, pedestrian-crushing GTA is available for the same price.

| Billy Bob's Huntin' 'n' Fishin' |
| Game Boy Color |
From: Midway |
Judging by the surprising success of the morally dubious, stunningly dull Deer Hunter, it was only a matter of time before somebody came up with a spoof hunting game. Billy Bob puts you in the shoes of a lovesick hillbilly, pining for the attentions of the lovely Daisy Mae. The only way to win her heart is by presenting her with an assortment of freshly killed meat and fish, and the only way to do that is by getting your huntin' boots on and heading out into the bush. It's basically a collection of Game & Watch-style mini challenges, with various tasks to be accomplished before you can earn your licence and begin the slaughter. Not bad, in small doses.
