Mini-Review
Pro Pinball: Fantastic Journey
PC From: Empire

Pinball games, like fruit machine games, are curiosities at the best of times. The physical interaction between player and table is what makes them so popular in real life, and when that's taken away, the gameplaying experience is, at best, shallow. As far as pinball games go this is one of the best around. The ball physics are superb and pinball nuts will revel in the wonderful combos that can be achieved. However, even they will be disappointed that there's only one table to play and the rest of us will be bored after a quick 10 minute blast. A well-coded game that's got limited mainstream appeal.

Mini-Review
Gabriel Knight III
PC From: Sierra

Gabriel returns and this time he's fighting vampires. This is a traditional point-and-click adventure in 3D clothing and it suffers from a few fundamental errors, one of which is the difficulty in working out what's going on if you haven't played either of the two earlier games. The interface is frustratingly slow and there's so much waffly conversation that only the most dedicated adventurers are going to want to struggle through it. It's a shame that what should have been a good story is spoiled by so much extraneous rubbish you'll give up at the drop of a hat.
