Okay, but suppose I just want a quick blast...
That option's covered where you're delivering various Porsches to customers and get to drive like a loony on a variety of country and city roads, with oncoming traffic to deal with and speed cops to avoid.
Sounds good.
It is.
You mentioned the game starts in 1948 and goes to 2000. What Porsche models are included then?
The game's got a glorious line-up of models on offer. There are some 40 car model variations, from the classic 'James Dean' 550 Spyder and the legendary 911 series to today's 996 Porsche Turbos.
That's groovy. Any other extras?
EA are proud of the game's four-point physics model that simulates the subtleties of each car model, the car upgrades and car settings, as well as the damaged car parts.
That's nice.
It is indeed.
So it's not just an arcade racer?
No it's not, although in multiplayer mode that's what you'll want to be doing, with up to eight players on LAN or Internet. The single-player mode's got a much deeper game running through it and what we saw got us all hot under the bonnet.
Do say...
Have you got a water pump for a 1959 series 12?
Don't say...
Whazzup!
Career mode takes you from 1948 to the present day
There's a quick arcade mode too
All the cars, all the real parts and realistic wear and tear
Drive test tracks and through streets
Just Need for Speed in Porsche clothing?
