Barbie Super Sports page 2 of 2
PlayStation

Most of the levels, whether you're boarding or skating, are very similar - you need to make your way around as quickly as possible, picking up points and balloons for bonuses. Your speed skills are also put to the test with a slalom-style boarding race and a race against the clock for points around the skate parks. It's all pretty basic stuff, and once you've completed the area you're rewarded with a token toward opening up the secret course. Points can then be exchanged for better kit at the shop.

Graphically, Super Sports is very reminiscent of the NES, as is its content. The 8bit budget styling comes as a surprise given the relatively well-animated nature of its predecessor, Race and Ride. Despite the fact this game is obviously aimed at a very young audience, it's no excuse for its poor quality.

There's nothing new about publishers buying a licence in the hope that it'll shift copies of games that might otherwise never see the light of day. However, in Barbie's case, even if she has got great legs and the kind of chest that's going to make even Lara jealous, this is one case where your money is definitely better spent on the real thing.

FG verdict
A disappointing game, the only redeeming feature being the choice of bright colours. It provides little or nothing for any child at any age to get excited about. 17%
