Indrema L600

X-Box clone or elaborate hoax?

The web is currently rife with rumours regarding Indrema, a Linux-based console that sounds very similar to the recently announced X-Box. We duly checked out the 'official' website for more information and found the following specifications:

  • 600MHz processor (just like X-Box)
  • 64Mb fast memory (hasn't the X-Box got 64Mb?)
  • 2/8/30/50Gb hard drive option (the X-Box has 8Gb)
  • "Massive 3D hardware acceleration" (like an NVIDIA GeForce, perchance?)
  • 100Mbps Ethernet port (go on, take a guess...)
  • Wireless keyboard/mouse option (okay, so that is different)

As you can probably tell, we're rather dubious. To produce a console of this specification at a competitive price would take some serious financial backing. Who could realistically compete with the economic muscle of Microsoft, Sony, Sega and Nintendo? Our money's on Ronald McDonald.
