| The Publisher Internet Prominence Chart |
Net gains for videogame publishers
Internet startup GameCampaign have released their first Publisher Internet Prominence Chart, which tracks the amount of times that a publisher or developer receives a mention on one of thousands of videogames websites. This resource will prove invaluable to all the big software houses that want to keep ahead of the competition.
"We've been very careful to keep the chart as balanced as possible - we're looking at a random sample of sites, from random geographical locations, and looking at only the plain text translations of those pages," said GameCampaign Chairman Simon Forrester. "So yeah - Microsoft will probably never be knocked off the number one spot, because they're mentioned all over the place, but they're not gaining position by being in the internal gubbins of 50 per cent of the web - our technology is careful to see only what the user sees."
