Red Storm Team up with Another Best-Selling Author

Dragon lady Anne McCaffrey's Freedom novels to form the basis for new third-person action-adventure

Red Storm Entertainment today announced their next project under development: Freedom: First Resistance, a third-person, single-player action-adventure game inspired by Anne McCaffrey's best-selling novels. Freedom: First Resistance is scheduled for release during the fourth quarter of this year.

Set in an Earth of the future ruled by the Catteni, a race of invading aliens, players will act out the role of the heroine of the novels, young freedom fighter Angel Sanchez.

Through a combination of stealth, combat, puzzle-solving and dialogue, the player guides Angel and members of her team through a series of missions until, ultimately, they face and overcome the ultimate alien evil in its lair or die trying. Along the way, the characters interact with both allied and hostile non-player characters, explore the world and uncover the secrets behind the Catteni domination of Earth.

Anne McCaffrey has been a best-selling science fiction writer since 1967. She first found success with her Dragons of Pern novels.

"Our agreement with Anne reflects Red Storm's strategy to create innovative, enjoyable products that appeal to the widest possible range of consumers," Red Storm President and CEO Doug Littlejohns said. "Anne has an enormous following worldwide and we trust that they will be as excited as we are that her brilliant storytelling will be brought to the computer screen."

Freedom: First Resistance will be shown at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles in May.
