| Oni for PlayStation2 |
Simultaneous release with PC and Mac
Take 2 Interactive have announced that they will publish Bungie Software's much-touted Oni on PlayStation2. Take 2's Rockstar Games division are developing the title internally in conjunction with Bungie (makers of Myth and Marathon).
Oni takes place in a sprawling 3D urban jungle, designed by anime specialists, and tells the story of Konoko, an elite cop and one-woman SWAT team. The combat-heavy title blends hand-to-hand martial arts and gunplay into what Take 2 describe as "full contact action".
Bungie CEO Alexander Seropian commented: "Oni and PlayStation2 were made for each other. The remarkable speed and power of the PlayStation2 is the perfect complement to the vast environments, cutting-edge technology and wide-ranging action of Oni. Oni's blend of martial arts and gunplay is unique, and its anime setting makes it perhaps the most stylish game we've done yet, so bringing it to console involves many challenges."
